" Marfa sits on a high desert plateau at an altitude of 4,830 feet. Even in the heat of the Texas summer, the midday temperature
rarely creeps over 90 degrees while nighttime temperatures can drop into the 60s. This superb climate, coupled with clear skies
and gorgeous light, make for a thoroughly entrancing locale. Named in 1883 by the wife of a railroad executive for a character
in Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Karamozov, the town of Marfa originated as a water stop on the Galveston, Harrisburg and
